About the Cincinnati and Dayton Markets The cities of Cincinnati and Dayton are separated by only 50 miles along Interstate 75 making them important twin hubs for transportation and logistics. For years, urban sprawl and development extending between Dayton and Cincinnati have narrowed the divide between the cities, and the two metropolitan areas are expected to soon be combined into one metroplex, similar to Dallas-Fort Worth or Baltimore-Washington DC. The resulting 19-county area covering all of Southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana would include approximately 3 million people, making it the 13th largest population center in the United States,  and one of only four regions in the country with two top-100 commercial airports.

The diverse industries of Cincinnati and Dayton create a stable economy in the region.  Fortune 500 companies headquartered in the region include Kroger, Proctor & Gamble, Macy’s, Ashland, AK Steel, Fifth Third Bancorp and American Financial Group. In addition to this range of industries, a number of specific industry clusters have gravitated to the region. These clusters, among others, include:

  • Manufacturing
  • Transportation – Logistics
  • Consumer Marketing
  • Aerospace Technology

The Cincinnati and Dayton region are home to Wright Patterson Air-Force Base, top-notch universities, multiple professional sports teams, and an abundance of architectural gems.
