Welcome to Dallas

Dallas/Fort Worth is one the largest metropolitan areas in Texas and the fastest growing metropolitan area in the United States. Its central location, transportation infrastructure, young and educated labor force, diverse collection of industries and pro-business atmosphere foster a prosperous economic environment that provides an outstanding base for future growth. In addition, D/FW offers its residents and tourists numerous cultural and recreational opportunities.

D/FW benefits from its central U.S. geographic location, roughly equidistant from the three largest metropolitan areas in North America: New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Additionally, the central time-zone, low cost of doing business, highly educated work force and pro-business environment have contributed to the economic success of D/FW. As a result of these characteristics, numerous Fortune 500 firms including Exxon Mobil, American Airlines, Centex, Dean Foods, and Tenet Healthcare have chosen D/FW as home for their corporate and/or re-growth headquarters. The economy is well diversified, thereby minimizing the market risk against a downturn in any particular industry.

The Metroplex has a current population of approximately 6.3 million, representing approximately 25% of Texas’ total population. D/FW showed the most growth in recent years, adding more than 1.3 million people since 2000. The Metroplex added approximately 90,170 residents in 2009, the first time the growth was less than 100,000 residents in 13 years, and has averaged approximately 150,000 new additions per year since the 2000 Census. The North Central Texas Council of Governments (www.nctcog.org) predicts the growth of almost 4 million persons and just over two million jobs between 2000 and 2030, resulting in a population of 9.1 million persons and a workforce of 5.4 million. As a result of the many advantages offered in the region, population growth is projected to outpace both the state and national average.

D/FW residents have access to a broad range of cultural, educational and recreational facilities. D/FW claims two major arts districts including the 60-acre Dallas Arts District located in the Dallas CBD. The Arts District is the home of the Dallas Museum of Art, the Morton H. Myerson Symphony Center and the Nasher Sculpture Garden and is the largest urban arts district in the country. The Fort Worth Cultural District claims several of the top museums in the state including the Kimball, the Amon Carter and the Museum of Modern Art. Dallas is also home to several major league sports, including the Dallas Stars, Mavericks, Rangers, Cowboys, and MLS FC Dallas. In addition, the area features several parks, lakes, and golf courses.
